16-19 Tuition Fund
The 16 to 19 Tuition Fund for the 2021 to 2022 academic year is ring fenced funding for schools, colleges and all other 16 to 19 providers to mitigate the disruption to learning arising from Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The funding is being provided to support small group tuition for 16 to 19 students in English, Maths and other courses where learning has been disrupted.
The funding is being used to provide small group tuition for 16-19-year olds where their learning has been disrupted and they have a GCSE Maths and / or English grade of 4 or below. Although targeted students are identified based on their prior attainment in English and Maths, the funding can be used to support students in their learning across a variety of subjects.
How the Academy is using the funding
Prior attainment of students | Timetabled teaching | Support outside of lessons | Resit exams |
Students who have a Level 3 in English and/or Mathematics. | 3 hours small group teaching per subject per fortnight with a specialist teacher working towards a resit in GCSE. | Extra support is available daily in study periods and after school 3-4pm with a dedicated Sixth Form Learning Mentor | Students are entered for resit GCSE exams in November of Year 12. If a Level 4+ is not achieved, further resits are available in June of Year 12 and November and June of Year 13. It is our overriding aim for every student to achieve 4+ in GCSE English and Mathematics. |
Students who have below a Level 3 in English and/or Mathematics | 3 hours small group teaching per subject per fortnight with a specialist teacher working towards Functional Skills Level 1 and 2 | Extra support is available daily in study periods and after school 3-4pm with a dedicated Sixth Form Learning Mentor. | Students are entered for Functional Skills Level 1, then progress to Level 2. On achieving Level 2, students will progress to GCSE. It is our overriding aim to provide the best possible pathway for every student to achieve 4+ in GCSE English and Mathematics. |
