Careers
All Year 12 and 13 students receive one-to-one advice and guidance on careers and university applications.
In Year 13, we offer specialist help with personal statement writing, choice of university courses, applying for student finance and student accommodation.
CV and covering letter writing is taught, alongside interview practice for both university and job applications.
Students are encouraged to undertake online work experience courses in areas which interest them as well as real life work experience during Year 12.
Guest speakers come in to talk about careers, following the students’ interests.
A large array of universities come in to the Academy to offer their widening participation programmes which encourage students from under-represented areas to apply to university. They offer mentoring, university day visits and residential stays so that students can get a real taste of university life. Applications to university summer schools are encouraged and many students attend these to help them make their final course and university choices
